The youthful politician made a comeback to the County Assembly after a court nullified his 2022 election.

Hassan Aden Kalosho was officially sworn in as a Member of the Garissa County Assembly (MCA) for Fafi Ward on Wednesday afternoon.

The youthful politician made a comeback to the County Assembly after a court nullified his 2022 election.

The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by County Assembly Speaker Abdi Idle Gure, was conducted in line with Article 74 of the Constitution, which requires all MCAs to take the oath of office before assuming their official duties.

Speaking after the ceremony, Kalosho thanked his supporters and family for their continued confidence and pledged to represent their interests effectively in the County Assembly.

“I am honoured to take the oath and serve my community once again. I will work tirelessly to ensure the voices of Fafi Ward are heard in all Assembly proceedings,” he said.

Kalosho’s return follows his victory in the November 27, 2025, by-election, which confirmed him as the legitimate representative of Fafi Ward residents.

Kolosho was declared the winner by Fafi Constituency IEBC Returning Officer Noor Gedi Arale after securing 1,414 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Diriye Ibrahim Maalim of UDA, who garnered 967 votes, while ODM’s Feisal Gedi Mohamed received 859 votes.

The official results were announced shortly before midnight at the Borehole 5 Secondary School tallying centre.

Out of 7,050 registered voters in the ward, a total of 3,264 cast their ballots, representing a 46.3% voter turnout.

During the ceremony, Kalosho was introduced to the Assembly Chamber by Dekaharja MCA, Ahmed Noor Aden and escorted by fellow MCAs, including Abdullahi Ibrahim Sigat (Nanighi), Ahmed Abdirahman Sheikh (Liboi), Marian Mohamed Hassan, Abdikadir Dubat, and Khatra Iman Sigat.
